This is a amazing place in a great location. The location, right on the water, can’t be beat. You can watch tides come in and out. Along with the tides, bountiful sea life; humpbacks, orcas, sea lions and more. Salmon trollers are working just off shore as well. It’s far enough from town, but still close enough if you want to or need to go to town. The kitchen is amply stocked with everything you would need so you can bring back your own (processed) fish, or buy some in town and enjoy it.
The house is spotless, well-stocked with whatever you may need. All appliances are in perfect working order.
It’s a very clean, comfortable place to stay in a great location.
On top of that, we communicated and met with Mary – she was friendly, helpful and very kind.
Joanne, Thank you for the wonderful review. We hope you are able to visit us again!
Best place we’ve stayed in Ketchikan. The house was very clean and comfortable. The view of the ocean was absolutely amazing. We saw humpback whales up close! I hope to stay here again, our time was cut short on this trip but we want to book more time on the next visit. Aloha Stan & Sue
‘Lovely’ seems too small a word to describe this place. It’s location is perfect-right in the beach, easy to find, and not too far from town. Everything you need is here; the furnishings are right in the sweet spot of both comfortable and beautiful; the hosts are warm and available, without hovering. Instructions/expectations about departure are both reasonable and clear.
You will not be sorry if you book this place.
Thank you for the kind review!
Captain Morgan Beach House is amazing and we loved staying there! It was everything we saw pictured online and more. Mary welcomed us at the house upon arrival and went over some details about the house (she is so sweet and kind). The house was immaculate, spacious, and had everything you will need and want to use while staying there. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots & pans, dishes, and lots more. The master bedroom and bath is wonderful with the big window view of the water and the huge walk-in closet and bathroom. The large windows in the living room and kitchen area made the stay delightful. Each day you wake up to beautiful views and watch the sunset as well.
The location of the house was perfect. We were not far from Herring Cove where we watched the bears come out and catch salmon in the stream on 2 different occasions. Downtown Ketchikan is only about 10-15 minutes down the road.
We want to return and stay here again. The couple that was with us loved it as much as we did. Being able to stay in this house attributed to us having a great vacation. Thank you Mary for sharing your lovely home with us.
This house is amazing!! Not one complaint!
We will try to stay here again on our next fishing trip to Ketchikan. Beds are really comfortable, kitchen is huge…but the best part is that gorgeous view!!! Feels like you’re floating on the water with views of the ocean from just about every room…BEAUTIFUL!!!!
And you are plenty close enough to town and airport!
This house was absolutely fabulous. It’s private, well stocked, clean and spacious. Our party of 4 couldn’t have been more pleased. This house is well furnished and beautiful. Mary is a great host and makes sure your needs are taken care of. The views are beyond words. Having a rent car is necessary because it is some distance from town and other sightseeing opportunities. I definitely want to come back here.
The Captain Morgan’s Beach House is an absolute treat. I drove all the way to Ketchikan down from the Maine mountains in the Carrabassett Valley searching for something magical to inspire me to make art again. Seeing eagles just after sunrise on the waterfront backed by gorgeous mountain landscapes while being able to relax and re-watch WandaVision on the big screen in the living room was just what I needed. At ease and right at home, I was able to review my entire art portfolio that I travelled with and rekindle my extinguished creative fire. I forgot to sign the guest book before I caught the ferry out, getting caught up watching salmon jump out of the water like something from an old fairy tale.
I hope the Alaska trip was an inspiration for your art. Thank you so much for the review!
I and two fellow hikers stayed at Capt. Morgan’s Beach House for a week in early August. Capt. Morgan’s was the perfect base for our hiking trip. The location/setting/views from Capt. Morgan’s were fabulous — some days we were tempted not to hike at all and just sit and look out over the water all day! Early one morning, before we left for our daily hike, we were doing just that when we saw the tell-tale circle of bubbles in the water fifty yards out to sea signaling the impending appearance of a feeding humpback whale. Sure enough, it broke the surface seconds later — best photograph of the whole trip, and we hadn’t even left our accommodation! We also saw bald eagles from our balcony, as well! And colorful starfish in the rocks right outside the house. In the evenings we would drive just a couple miles down the road to Herring Cove and see, without fail, black bears coming out to feed on the returning salmon (and LOTS of bald eagles). In short, Capt. Morgan’s was the perfect place to stay and, on top of its inherent attractions (location, location, location!), we found Mary/the owner to be friendly, helpful and responsive — a great host! I highly recommend Capt. Morgan’s Beach House!
Thanks Joe!
We love Captain Morgan’s Beach House. We’ve stayed here multiple times over the past few years. Mary and Greg are wonderful hosts.. The location is great, just a short drive out of town. It’s a quiet and beautiful property right on the ocean. The layout of the home maximizes the incredible views. Can’t wait to go back.
Our stay at Captain Morgan’s Beach House was incredible! You are right on the ocean with unbelievable views! We saw whales go by, porpoise and more bald eagles then we could possibly imagine. The house is very well appointed and ALL the furniture is very comfortable, most of all the bedding! During our one week stay we barbecued several nights out on the deck and relaxed as we soaked in the views! This was our third visit to Ketchikan and we highly recommend it. Our first visit was on a cruise ship. We loved the town so much we’ve come the past two years – each time booking with Alaska Travelers. Mary is the perfect host!
Thank you Joe!
We had a great vacation in Ketchikan and the house made it, just perfect for us. It’s far enough out of town to get away but not too far. Once you’re done exploring all day, it was just great to hang out and relax on the deck and enjoy that the spectacular view. House is very clean and well provisioned. Kitchen is large with tons of counter space. We cooked pretty much every night. Grill worked great for salmon. Mary the owner was terrific and very responsive. Gave us great tips on places/tours to see. Checkin/out super easy. The last day we had a humpback whale feed literally 30 yards off the shore, right in front of the house.. yes we’d definitely stay there again. Great place!
