#506-3 The Beach House (Portside Suite) These vacation rental units are located only 2 miles from downtown Ketchikan. The house is as close as you can get to the ocean. This is a busy waterway where all of the large ships come through on the way in or out of the Ketchikan harbor. Otter, seals, orca and humpback whales are frequently seen. There are eagles that regularly perch on a pole near the water. The view is ever changing and the activity of the waterway of the Tongass Narrows is very entertaining.
Portside Suite is a 700 sq. ft one-bedroom apartment with a queen-size bed. The large windows that wrap around from the living room to the dining room provide a spectacular view. The fully equipped kitchen has everything to make a long stay very comfortable. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination.
There are two one bedroom suites on the upper level, the Starboard Suite and the Portside Suite. The Captain’s Suite is on the lower level and has three bedroom with three bathrooms. All of the suites have decks that face the ocean.

This review is for the Portside Suite in Ketchikan Alaska. Traveling from the ferry to the Portside Suite was easy and convenient because its a strait shot. As you approach the Portside Suite property you notice right away the incredible landscape and magnificent wildlife. Huge rocks with waterfalls, oceanic channel, mountains, and birds. After sleeping the first night, my wife and I woke up, opened the blinds of the four picture framed windows that directly overlook the oceanic channel. To our surprise there were two bald eagles perched on two pilings. A few days later we are sitting on the couch and my wife says, “Look whales!” Sure enough they were humpback whales just like you see on the discovery channel. The Portside Suite has a digital keypad lock on the main entrance, which worked great and we felt very secure. Inside the unit, everything was clean and dusted. There is a wrap around deck that is in great shape and is a great way to enjoy your coffee. Also, there is a walking / biking path near by with even more adventure and views beyond anything I could ever had imagined visiting the island. This place is a must see.
The Portside suite was a wonderful place to have space, privacy and soak in the beautiful ocean views. It was very clean and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. It is very secure and conveniently located. There is street noise (cars) when you sleep but it was no problem because they provide both a very nice sound machine and a box fan and we slept like babies. We would love to stay again!
